You think Dumbledore would be heartless enough to do that? Well if he did fake his death or if Snape only killed him to guarantee his position as a spy it would make sense not to tell Harry, since he isn't exactly too great at lying (occlumency). However, I really dislike Snape and would rather believe he is loyal to no one but himself.

I think there's a posibility that Dumbledore's still alive. Remember that Voldemort had the same spell backfired against him and he lived, though in a very weak state. Dumbledore's more powerful than Voldemort, so there is a posibility that Dumbledore's spirit is roaming free from his body.

Voldemort took precautions against death, someone like Dumbledore has no reason to fear death. Maybe the death of his loved ones, but not his own. Some do believe he is alive for one reason or another, but I personally don't like it when authors bring people back from the dead, Tolkien did it well with Gandalf, but it's been overused in my opinion. tongue

read book 5 about how frank died in the riddles house.
voldermort did the avada kedavra and he was dead before he hit the floor.
if snape used the same spell to kill dumbledore why did dumbledore fly though the air, avada kedavras never done that before.
the only other spell to blast you off your feet is experillium.

so im convinced dumbledore isnt dead.
but we will have to wait until book 7 comes out to see if right or not.

I have always felt (since book 3) that in order for Harry Potter to truly grow, Dumbledore's death was needed. Without Dumbledore there to protect everyone, Harry would be literally forced into maturing as a person and as a powerful wizard, he will have to grow strong and wise - this started already in the last book - to protect his friends when no one else can. As long as Dumbledore is alive Harry does not really have to worry as much about facing Voldemort, he can always rely on Dumbledore to help him. However, with Dumbledore gone, he feels that he truly rely on one but himself. Notice how he lets go of Ginny so that she won't be put in harms way, so Voldemort won't use her to get to him? He will most probably *want* to face Voldemort on his own, being the hero that he is, always wanting to save, to protect everyone. Of course I'm sure Hermione and Ron won't let him go it alone, but I'm just looking at this from Harry's perspective. I'm not saying I want Dumbledore to die/be dead, he is afterall my favorite character, I just don't think Harry can defeat Voldemort with him alive. Happy

I do agree that the way in whihc dumbledore died a bit weird, but dumbledore was a very clever wizard, i dont think he knew snape was going to kill him, another thing i thought was weird too when harry gave chase to try and stop snape but couldnt get a spell to hit him, was it just me or was snape actaully trying to teach him the need for non verbal spells and occlumency. I also think that harry alone will not defeat voldemort he is not strong enough, but i think harry and all his friends will all thier love together will conquer voldemort, dont forget he has power the dark lord knows not, which i took to mean that he has friends were as we know voldemort does not. I HOPE the whole of the wizarding community open thier eyes and all go after the death eaters and voldemort and maybe with this over whelming opposition they will leave voldemort after all they are not his frinds.

Im sure a powerful wizard like Dumbledore has a way to stay at the school even if his body is not physically there. There is a fine line between smart and trust and Dumbledore has played with it but I think he has secrets we know not.

I don't want for Dumbledore to be dead, but Jo said he is. If he really is dead I think it was all planed between Snape and Dumbledore. That's what they were argueing about when Hagrid overheard them. It all makes sense, well to me it does. And Vesailius I love that site my mom found in and I was always on it.

Can you remember that night when Hagrid saw Dumbledore and Snape shouting at each other they were shouting about if worst came to worst that Snape should kill him to save Harry, i agree with Coby!

I don't think that Snape wanted to kill Dumbledore, but was forced to by either Dumbledore or his vow to protect Draco. Dumbledore trusted Snape so much that it makes it improbable for Snape to kill Dumbledore by his own choice. Dumbledore may have been enough of a danger to Malfoy when he was trying to convince him to change sides that Snape had to kill him to keep his vow.

as much as i want to believe that there were magical circumstances surrounding dumblodore's death, and that there is the possibility that he may still be alive, i have to say that i think it's extremely unlikely.

the question is, now, whose side is Snape really on?
